Pressure Washing Testimonials
“Our dirty roof was gross! It ruined the whole exterior appearance of our home. Immediately after you treated it, the roof looked like new… nice and clean!” – Sue M., Hagerstown
Pool Season is Here. Is Your Pool Deck Clean?
June is here and so is pool season. Is your pool deck clean and ready for pool parties?
It’s June and it is pool season. Most pool owners think about getting everything ready inside the pool. They’re using the skimmer to get out whatever has found its way in since last October. Then they’re topping off the water level. Lastly their balancing the chemicals. But a major step is missing in this to-do list. The greenish black streaks and patches on the pool deck often overshadow the sparkling water that beckons swimmers.
Complete Power Wash pressure washing techs are ready to help. They are experienced in cleaning concrete, wood, tile, composite lumber and special coatings. Everyone can agree that ugly stains on these surfaces are bad. The algae causes slick surfaces and can be dangerous. And most don’t think about the fact that these natural elements can cause damage to most of these materials. The only thing that can cause more damage is a novice with a pressure washing machine.
SoftWash is a Safe Wash
Concrete and wood seem indestructible, until a high pressure stream of water cuts through those materials like they were hot butter. Don’t make this mistake…or hire an amateur to make this mistake for you!
The professionals at Complete Power Wash are trained to use softwash in the most effective manner. Our techs use gentle water pressure and environmentally-friendly detergents. These detergents are used to weaken the grip of dirt, algae, mold, mildew and other such elements. Once the cleaner takes affect, the grime can be easily washed away. The method is also safe for trees and plants.
Important June Dates
June has a number of important dates on the calendar. The 14th is Flag Day, so plan to display it proudly. June 19th is Juneteenth, followed by Father’s Day on Sunday the 20th. Summer officially begins the next day.
We hope that you and your family and friends have a great summer season!

Black Dots on Siding Should be Removed Immediately
Shotgun Fungus is a tough foe for pressure washing professionals, so don’t let it get out of control.
Complete Power Wash cleaning techs can handle nearly every tough element that naturally grows on a building. These include mildew, moss, black stains and every kind of grime found on a house, roof, deck, fence, etc… in the greater Hagerstown, MD area. But the little black dots found on siding are among the toughest to remove. Shotgun Fungus — also called Artillery Fungus — are spores that literally shoot from the ground level onto exteriors walls.
What Are These Black Dots?
Shotgun fungus (Sphaerobolus stellatus) originates in the mulch that homeowners love to add to landscapes this time of year. Its name is derived from the Greek word for “spear thrower,” as it indicates how the black spores are propelled onto a home’s siding. The launch can spray up to 20 feet high. The spores are extremely adhesive and will stick to any surface. The spores aren’t harmful, but are extremely difficult to remove. The longer the spores “bake” onto the siding, the tougher they are to remove.
What to do About the Black Dots on My House
Most people call professional pressure washing companies after it’s too late to easily deal with Artillery Fungus. The best advice is prevention, right after the mulch is put down. Since most people add mulch to flower beds in spring, this is when to keep a close eye on the walls close to the mulch. If you see a few black dots, remove the mulch immediately and clean the walls with soap and scrub brush. There are no proven treatments to kill this fungus. The mulch should be moved away from the house or other structures for two weeks. That is the duration of the ‘shooting season.”
Can I Avoid Shotgun Fungus by Purchasing Better Mulch?
It is a common misconception that more expensive mulch will be “fungus-free,” or that cheap mulch is more prone to having it. This is simply not true. Artillery fungus can infect any organic mulch, and under the right conditions it will flourish and create a problem. Artillery fungus thrives in cool, moist, shady areas. Having mulch delivered and piled in a driveway or other open area is the best way to avoid the black dots on the walls. As the mulch ages under the sun, it reduces the likelihood of having the fungus “activate” when it is placed near your home.

Are Your Gutters Ready for Spring Rains?
Clean gutters make your home look great and keep you and your family healthy.
How often do you look at your gutters? We’re willing to bet it’s not very often. Like the offensive linemen on a football team, you never hear about them unless something goes wrong. The worst thing that can happen is to have clogged gutters in a storm, because you DON’T want to be putting up an extension ladder with lightening over head.
Many also never think about gutters being the “framing of a house.” Until homeowners experience exterior gutter cleaning, they don’t realize the beauty such a cleaning adds to the house. Clean gutters inside and out are worth the investment.
Possible Health Problems from Clogged Gutters
The professionals at Complete Power Wash in Hagerstown, MD know how important it is to keep gutters clean and functioning at a high level. This is why they offer gutter cleaning as part of their house washing service. They know that mildew and other fungi can cause health risks, such as severe allergies, that result in respiratory distress. Among the worst problems can be the triggering of an asthma attack. For most, it is simply the need to get medical assistance from an inhaler. More severe asthma cases can cause hospitalization or even death.
Misdirected rain water can also damage your home’s structure. The wood behind the gutters can rot. The house’s exterior walls can be damaged. And, if the water continues to pool around the base of the house, the foundation can be compromised, causing thousands of dollars of damage.
Complete Power Wash‘s techs will make sure the gutters are clean inside and out. Many homeowners are amazed by the house’s transformation. And, if you’re selling your home, you can bet prospective buyers will notice as part of their first impression from the curb.

Tax Return, Stimulus for Pressure Washing
Tax return season is a great time to fix up and clean up your home.
Tax season is here –adjusted for the lingering pandemic — and you’ve either received your refund or you’re checking your account for it to hit soon. Some may soon be doubly blessed, receiving a stimulus check in addition to the refund. Remember, the government stimulus is to pay bills and/or to “stimulate” the local economy. Hiring a local company accomplishes that objective.
Nonetheless, now is the time to decide what to do with that “found money.” Usually it’s a decision to spend it or save it. Most will do a little of both, or pay off some debt.
Well, we won’t argue with getting out of debt, but we will say that hiring a professional pressure washing company to “upgrade” your home’s appearance IS a great investment in your biggest investment. We at Complete Power Wash in Hagerstown, MD will properly and safely clean and restore your home’s beauty. Our techs use the softwash method to gently remove all the harmful elements for your siding, roof, deck, etc…. Many client’s — like the one below — have told us about the incredible difference a thorough cleaning made to their property.
“The house always looks like new. We have used them (Complete Power Wash) before and will surely use them again.” – Sandra N.
Our techs are the area’s cleaning experts in house washing, roof cleaning and deck and patio cleaning.
What is SoftWash?
Softwash is the technique most true pressure washing professionals use on even the toughest stains. The professionals at Complete Power Wash are trained to use softwash in the most effective manner. Our techs use “just the right water pressure,” combined with gentle, environmentally-friendly detergents. These detergents are used to weaken the grip of dirt, mold, mildew and other natural elements. Once the detergent takes affect, the grime can be gently washed away. The method is also friendly to trees and plants.
The method of blasting away dirt and grime can easily damage many types of building materials, including wood and concrete.
Damage can also come from doing nothing, because the natural elements can break down these materials in a few short years.
A Little Ugly can do a Lot of Harm
A thorough cleaning will not only make all the surfaces shine like new, but will also remove harmful microbes from those surfaces. These elements can cause damage, contaminate air and lead to health problems. Buildup on outdoor living spaces and water invading exterior walls are the biggest health hazards. Clean gutters will ensure that rain water flows away from your home.
Water that streams down and into walls can be serious. It takes very little trapped moisture for mold and mildew to start and cause thousands of dollars in damage. In addition to the cost, such contaminants can easily trigger asthma attacks, respiratory issues and allergies, leading to long-term health problems.

Happy Easter from Complete Power Wash!
Wishing you a happy Easter from all of us at Complete Power Wash!
We are in the midst of the Easter season, with Easter Sunday just days ahead. We hope this time of renewal is a special time for you, your family and your friends. This year, as we emerge from a year-long pandemic, will likely be extra special for so many.
For us at Complete Power Wash in Hagerstown, MD, it’s a time to reflect on a special blessing, because of the Easter season. That blessing is knowing and understanding the ultimate sacrifice that God made and the victory of an empty grave.
Did You Know: Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. In the Bible’s New Testament, the resurrection occurred three days after Jesus was crucified by the Romans and died in roughly 30 A.D. The Easter holiday concludes the “Passion of Christ,” a series of events and holidays that begins with Lent—a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and sacrifice—and ends with Holy Week, which includes Holy or Maundy Thursday (the celebration of Jesus’ Last Supper with his 12 Apostles); Good Friday (on which Jesus’ death is observed); and Easter Sunday, also known as Resurrection Sunday.
Interesting Easter Facts: Eggs represent the new life. Eggs are dyed to represent the blood of Christ. And Americans will eat more that 600 million Peeps during the Easter season. Click here to read more Easter facts.
We hope that you will consider the reality of the Easter events as you celebrate with family and friends this coming weekend.

Celebrating World Water Day
World Water Day is March 22nd
Some might say that water is our world, because without it, our job would be much harder. We love pulling up to a dirty house and pressure washing a property back to nearly-new condition. And this is the perfect time of year for such work, because great weather is on the way. The challenge of house washing and cleaning walkways, decks, driveways, roofs and gutters is what motivates our cleaning techs. We’re grateful to have plenty of high-quality water for all of our needs. However, we know this isn’t the case in much of the world.
World Water Day brings attention to the water issues in most of the undeveloped countries around the world. The global water crisis affects 2.2 billion people.
World Water Day and Global Water Crisis
Imagine hiking three miles to collect water. Imagine getting sick from that same water. This is the reality for one-third of the world’s population every day. These are just a few of the facts in developing countries. Other water facts include:
- One person dies every 37 seconds from water-related disease.
- More than 443 million school days are missed each school year due to the global water crisis.
- Half of the hospital beds in a developing country are filled with patients suffering from water-related illness.

Irish Eyes See Spring in the Near Future

Going from February to March on the clock happens in seconds. But in many minds, it’s a huge leap forward toward the spring weather and outdoor fun. And everyone thinks of fun differently, because everyone is in a different stage of life. Some think about warm days and laying by the pool. Some think of vacationing, usually to a place with a pool. Pools are popular! Still others are thinking about working in the yard to get the house looking great. And it’s not just about the result, it’s about the journey.
For those who love weeding, planting and making their house a showcase in the neighborhood, we want to help. Our softwash pressure washing technique will safely wash away the dirt, grime and nastiness from at least the last six months. The gentle, environmentally-friendly detergents are safe for plants ready to bloom. The soft water pressure won’t hurt landscape that is tight to the home. Our softwash experts and your green thumb will have the neighbors green with envy. Complete Power Wash trains each tech to clean correctly and clean up the work area for a beautiful zone.
Spring Starts on March 21st
Did You Know that Spring refers to the season of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. Swedish meteorologists define the beginning of Spring as the first occasion on which the average daytime temperature exceeds zero degrees Celsius for seven consecutive days. Because of this, the date varies with latitude and elevation. In Persian culture the first day of Spring is the first day of the first month (called Farvardin) which begins on March 20th.
But before you usher in the green of Spring, celebrate the life of St. Patrick with some green accessories.
St. Patrick’s Day Trivia
Did You ALSO Know that Saint Patrick’s Day is also known as the Feast of Saint Patrick? The cultural celebration is held on March 17th, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461). He is regarded as the foremost patron saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick’s Day was made an official Christian feast day in the early 17th century and is observed by the Catholic Church and other church denominations. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

What’s the Harm in Green Patches and Black Streaks on my House?
If you house has green patches and black streaks, it’s not just ugly. These colors also represent damage, much like a bruise. But while a bruise will go away, these continue to stay and spread and break down building materials. Do you have any black and green stains? If the answer is “yes,” your house has a build up of grime, mildew, algae and other damaging elements. If the answer is “yes,” then you should seriously consider a professional pressure washing by the cleaning experts at Complete Power Wash.
Our cleaning techs use of the softwash technique for the cleaning of driveways, sidewalks, siding, roofing materials, gutters, fences, decks and more. Softwash is the combination of gentle water pressure and environmentally-safe detergents. It is the safest and best way to pressure wash. A thorough cleaning will not only make all the surfaces shine like new, but will also remove the microbes that can cause airborne health issues for your family. Buildup on outdoor living spaces and water that invades outer walls are the biggest personal health hazards.
